What is Online Survey?

Online surveys are sometimes also called market research jobs. In basic terms it is taking a survey online for payment. More and more people are signing up to these sites every day to earn a little extra money. A standard internet search will provide you with a whole list of companies that are looking for new members. The good thing about taking online surveys is that anyone can do it. You do not have to have any qualifications to join. All you will need is:

  • The ability to use a computer
  • Internet access
  • Moderate English skills

You will need to sign up to a few different companies in order to maximise your true online earning potential. After all, it is better to have too many invites than too few. Most people do online surveys in their spare moments. Doing this will not take a significant proportion of your day away from you. You can do as few or as many as you like.

Signing Up

When you first start looking at online survey sites, you must remain vigilant as there are a number of scam sites out there that you should avoid. Do not sign up to anything that offers to make you rich or a company that requires a large registration fee from you. Most of these are scams and even if you find they do provide you with surveys, there are some sites that will not pay the participants. Make sure that you can see a company address and contact information on their web page before you sign up. The simple rule is, the best sites are free.

When you first sign up you will be expected to complete a number of questions about yourself and your lifestyle. Research panels have to ask these questions in order to match you with surveys that are applicable to you. This is also to your advantage as you will want surveys that are interesting and, therefore, more enjoyable to complete. Make sure that you answer these initial questions promptly and truthfully. Once this is done, you should start to receive emails to invite you to surveys. If the website does not send out regular emails, make sure you check the site whenever possible for work.

Taking Surveys

Taking online surveys can be both profitable and enjoyable. To start off with, it is advisable that you accept as many survey invites as you can. They may seem dull and boring for very little pay, but the money will soon add up and this will also build you a good reputation with the company. As time goes on, you will find that you are invited to more and more surveys that pay a little more. Ensure that you answer all the surveys promptly and truthfully. Inconsistencies in your answers may result in you being struck off that particular website.

Make sure you complete the survey to the very last question as uncompleted surveys will not be paid for.

Payments

Payments for taking online surveys vary dramatically based on the length of the survey and its complexity. A short survey may pay as little as 50p, whereas a larger survey involving lots of participation may pay £10 upwards. You may even be asked to test products and then complete an online questionnaire once you have received and tested that product. It will take a while to be invited to these types of surveys, however, even the most poorly paid surveys are going to add up over time. Most companies will allow you to ask for payment once you reach a certain amount.

Payments can be made in cash via Paypal, or similar, or in the form of a shopping voucher that they will send out to you. This is usually for a shop of you choice. There is nothing to lose and much to gain with online survey participation, so why not have a go yourself?
